O’Connor Associates is a leading edge geoenvironmental consulting firm with a focus on creating innovative, practical solutions for environmental problems. Due to some existing and new contracts, we are actively recruiting for junior and intermediate level environmental professionals to join our multi-disciplinary team in Winnipeg. Duties will initially involve soil and groundwater sampling, environmental monitoring of subsurface conditions, equipment installation and maintenance, and assisting project coordinators with site investigations and remediation programs from the field. As the field training program progresses, you will be expected to work independently in the supervision of contractors on drilling programs and excavations, and assist project managers in the preparation of client reports. When field training is advanced, you will begin coordination of your own projects from the office and eventually begin to supervise more junior staff and their field work. The more experience you have, the less time you will spend in the field. Design and planning of remedial systems, report preparation, and client liaison will become important components of the job.
Some travel may be required initially. You will be driving a company truck, therefore a valid driver’s license will be mandatory. Employees will also be required to complete a medical examination, and sign an authorization for random drug testing, a requirement of our clients. Consideration will be given to applicants from varying backgrounds, which could include an engineering background in civil (environmental), geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, chemical, or an environmental science background in earth science, geology, agrology, or similar programs.
