O’Connor Associates is a leading edge geoenvironmental consulting firm with a focus on creating innovative, practical solutions for environmental problems. We are actively recruiting junior, intermediate and senior level environmental professionals to join our multi-disciplinary team in Edmonton. If required, your training will initially involve soil and groundwater sampling, environmental monitoring of subsurface conditions, equipment installation and maintenance, and assisting project coordinators with site investigations and remediation programs from the field. As your training progresses, you will begin to work independently supervising contractors on drilling programs and excavations, and assisting project managers in the preparation of client reports. When training is advanced, you will begin coordination of your own projects from the office and eventually begin to supervise more junior staff and their field work. The more experience you have, the less time you will spend in the field. Design and planning of remedial systems, report preparation, and client liaison will become important components of the job.
You will drive a company truck during your time in the field and a great deal of out-of-town work and travel will be required, therefore a valid driver’s license is mandatory. Employees will also be required to sign an authorization form for pre-access drug and alcohol testing, a requirement of our clients. Consideration will be given to applicants from varying backgrounds; an engineering background in civil, environmental, geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, chemical, or an environmental science background in earth science, geology, agrology, physical geography, or similar programs would be considered an asset.
O'Connor Associates offers challenging projects, mentoring by senior professionals, ongoing training, and opportunities to develop expertise in a flexible and cooperative environment. We also offer competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits package, and eligibility for ownership. All replies will be considered in strict confidence.
