In December 2008, the Calgary O’Connor office collected food and cash donations
to help
support low-income families and single parents in Calgary.
The donations were given to an organization called the Centre for Families,
which the families voluntarily visit once a week to enjoy a family-style meal, collect
some groceries of their choice and receive community support. Often this support
is all that is needed to help improve the lives of the children and their parents. |

The initial
goal of the food drive was to raise $1000
in food and cash donations.
That goal was far exceeded by the end of the food drive, with
over
$1950 in food and cash donations raised!
The overwhelming
generosity of O’Connor staff and the company astounded everyone involved
in the food drive. All donated cash
was used to purchase food at Superstore. Staff
at the Superstore were so impressed with our company’s food drive efforts that they
provided us with $120 in discounts, which we gladly spent on additional groceries
for the Centre for Families. |

experiences that we enjoyed while shopping for food and delivering the donations
to the Centre for Families:

The resulting food donation was the largest that the
Centre for Families has ever received. We succeeded in filling the Centre’s empty
shelves with food, and in helping to support many low-income families with much
needed food supplies.
