As part
of an environmental impact assessment, O'Connor Associates installed
passive
air samplers in the
vicinity of a proposed petrochemical facility in Kuwait. Ambient concentrations of
sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphide and nitrogen oxides were
measured, compared to various regulatory standards and processed
for use in predicting receptor impacts that would be caused by
the new facility. Other passive samplers were used to measure
ambient levels of various volatile organic compounds and
particulates having an aerodynamic diameter of no more than 10
micrometres.
O'Connor
Associates also installed and operated a noise monitoring station
in the vicinity of the proposed petrochemical
facility as part of the environmental impact assessment. The station collected short term and long term sound
level data that were compared to various regulatory standards
and processed for use in predicting receptor impacts that would
be caused by the new facility.
As
well, O'Connor
Associates installed and operated a 10 m high meterological
station at the site in Kuwait. The station collected baseline
data, including wind speed, wind direction, temperature,
relative humidity, atmospheric pressure and solar radiation,
which were processed for use in air dispersion modelling.
