As a condition of the site operating licence or approval, O’Connor Associates has installed groundwater monitoring wells and characterized the local soil and groundwater conditions at natural gas processing facilities and major refinery sites in western Canada. Monitoring wells were installed downgradient of the sites and at strategic locations throughout the process areas and tank farms. O’Connor Associates continues to monitor and sample the monitoring wells and prepares soil and groundwater monitoring reports for submission to regulatory agencies to comply with the site licence or approval.
 

In addition to compliance monitoring, O’Connor Associates has conducted other programs at the sites including:

• assessment of surface water quality at the runoff storage ponds,

• intrusive investigations in the vicinity of produced water and crude oil tanks to assess the extent of subsurface contamination related to a spill,

• remediation of the contaminated soil and groundwater,

• preparation of air quality monitoring reports for the facility, and

• environmental liability assessments of the sites.
