Working Alone?
An Automated Working Alone Tracking System

October 2, 2006

Do You or Your Staff Work Alone or In Isolation?

Working Alone? is an automated system that allows workers to easily notify their employer where they are working and allows them to set a time interval for checking in.  This time interval can be lengthened or shortened, depending on the risk associated with the work being conducted.  If the worker fails to check in, Working Alone? will attempt to contact the worker.  If the worker is not contacted, a designated supervisor will be contacted to track down the missing worker.

Are you aware of Bill C-45?

The enactment of Bill C-45 amends the Criminal Code to establish a legal duty for all persons directing work (including organizations and corporations) to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of workers and the public.

Bill C-45 states that “Everyone who undertakes or has the authority to direct how another person does work or performs a task is under a legal duty to take reasonable steps to prevent bodily harm to that person, or any other person, arising from that work or task”.

Most Provincial Health and Safety Regulations require employers to have written procedures for ensuring workers that work alone or in isolation can readily obtain assistance when needed. We have developed an automated system to help you comply with these regulations.

Call 1-800-661-8141 and ask for the working alone manager to learn about Working Alone?, our automated telephone and internet based tracking system for people working alone.
