O'Connor
Associates in the Community
September
10, 2007
On
Thursday, August 30, a group of about 12 from the Oakville office staff brought food, good cheer
and a spirit of service to Kerr Street Ministries, a local ministry for the most
vulnerable of this community (www.kerrstreet.com). The 50 or so people
who came for the weekly barbecue at a small park in central Oakville enjoyed burgers
and sausages, served with salads and cold drinks, all provided by O’Connor. Many
returned for seconds, and all were delighted with the ice cream and popsicles
served for dessert on this particularly hot day.
What
an opportunity it was for our staff to not only serve the food together, but to
mingle and talk with those who came to be fed … many smiles were seen and laughs
heard during the course of the meal. After we were given a tour of the Kerr
Street Ministries facility, we became aware of the great number of people who
are in need in the community in which we work, and how important it is for us to
offer our support in this place, which provides so many wonderful services to those of all ages who are
in need.
