O’Connor
Associates was retained to conduct an odour assessment in
support of an application to expand a waste water treatment
plant. Using Tedlar bags within a vacuum box, ambient air was
drawn from odour sources, such as that shown here, and from
various offsite receptor locations, then submitted to a
laboratory odour panel for determination of the odour
concentrations in odour units per cubic metre. Air dispersion
modelling was used to predict receptor concentrations under
various meteorological conditions. The application was approved
following a successful presentation by O'Connor staff at a
public meeting.
